With a storage capacity of up to 48TB in a 4U 19” rackmount form factor, the E4-2462 is the most compact system in our E-series product range.

The high performance E4 controller offers ample power for demanding content creation. Utilizing 24x SATA or SAS Hard drives offers additional bandwidth when multi-streaming or working in 2K editing, with the extra spindles making random access even faster.

When using the E4-2462 in a SAN environment, 4 or more of the hard drive caddies in the E4-2462 can be used with Solid State Disks (Intel X25). If Metadata is stored on the Solid State Disks, the SAN performance is increased significantly, providing one of the fastest SAN solutions in its class.

Mixing SATA, SAS and Solid State Disks is just one of the many unique features of Fibrenetix E4 product range. Our upgrade path, enables user’s to upgrade their controller from 4Gbit to8Gbit Fibre Channel technology within minutes - without the need for any tools - ensuring protection of investment for years to come. Even as technology moves on, your system can be upgraded to the latest and greatest.

If you run out of space, you can add Fibrenetix 12-bay or 16-bay JBOD storage. In fact, up to 4x JBODs can be added, enabling a single system to provide a total storage capacity of up to 176 Terabytes.

All E4 systems support MAID, making it one of the few product ranges on the market that takes a stand against harmful greenhouse gases/CO2 emissions.  In a RAID system, peak power consumption occurs when the drives are spinning - yet most RAID systems are only used from 09.00 to 17.00, 5 days a week and remain idle for the rest of the time.  However, the E4 system detects any idle time and simply spins down the drives so they don't consume electricity until they are in use again.  This process is totally automatic and occurs without any loss of connection between the Server and the E4 system. The E4 RAID controller also continues to respond in a completely normal way.

E4-2462 has 2+2 510 watt PSU’s providing ample power for even the most demanding 15K SAS disks. The PSU’s have highly efficient built-in cooling fans, designed to work in the middle of the enclosure, as close as possible to the HDD’s.
This design ensures the E4-2462 runs at optimal operating temperature at all times. If the room temperature goes up, due to aircon failure, the intelligent cooling system automatically adapts to the environment.  If there is a limited need for cooling, the fans automatically run with a lower speed, thereby reducing power consumption and noise level.
